See & Do Waterways & Fishing
"GET HOOKED IN THE HORSHAM AND GRAMPIANS REGION"
The Horsham Region boasts an abundance of waterways - The Wimmera River, Green Lake, Taylors Lake, Lake Wartook and Toolondo Reservoir. Horsham is the perfect destination for anglers in all seasons.
Standing on the shore line of Taylors Lake, cast you line and take in the soothing sound of the water lapping at the lake's edge. It doesn't take long before you reel in your first catch of the day, Redfin and yellowbelly are popular in the area.
But Taylors Lake is just the beginning of your fishing experience in the Horsham area. In the wetter years, Green Lake, Natimuk Lake, Rocklands and the Wimmera River are all great options and worth visiting. The Wimmera River is within walking distance of the main CBD with some great walking/cycling tracks and parks to keep the kids occupied while you focus on catching the big one. There are plenty of areas to drop your kayak or paddle board in.
The Police Paddock is a great option for all accessibility with an all accessible track, toilets and fishing platforms. There are several bird hides if bird watching is something you enjoy.
The Horsham Fishing Competition, held each year on the March Labour Day Weekend is a popular event not to be missed. Held on the banks of the Wimmera River in Horsham, there are fantastic prizes to be won for all ages and a great opportunity to experience camping and fishing for the first time on the banks of the river in close proximity to town.
