Hollows For Habitat
Join us for a free community event exploring ways to create habitat for wildlife, featuring two approaches: nestboxes and “hollow-hog” carving tool.
Tree hollows are a critical habitat resource for many native species, but they can take decades or even centuries to develop naturally. So…Let’s learn how we can supplement this habitat and support wildlife while our landscapes recover.
🪵 What’s on the program?
– Talks from guest speakers Nils Karlsson of Calypto Hollows and Bruce McInnes of Laharum Landcare.
– Explore the role of tree hollows in supporting native wildlife and options for supplementing natural hollows.
– Get hands-on with nestbox assembly.
– See a field demonstration of the “hollow-hog” carving tool in action.
🥪 Lunch provided. Households will have the opportunity to take a nestbox home, subject to availability.
This free event is part of our “Restoring Natimuk – After the Fire” project and is supported by Landcare Australia Victorian Bushfire Recovery Grants 2026.
Horsham District Landcare Network is a not-for-profit group that supports Landcare across the Horsham district and contributes to large scale community-led biodiversity and sustainable agriculture outcomes.
