2014 AUSTRALIA DAY Sunday 26th January

Whether you're a local, an interstate traveller or visiting from abroad, you will enjoy Australia Day celebration in the Wimmera, head to Sawyer Park  Horsham, celebrations will be held on the banks of the Wimnmera River, Saturday 26th January.

Horsham welcomes you to the Australia Day festivities.

Horsham Rural City Council with the wonderful support from the combined Service Clubs of Horsham, will provide a free barbecue breakfast from 7.15 which including bacon, eggs, orange juice and fruit.

The official ceremony will commence at 8.00am sharp.

Horsham Rural City Council are now seeking nomination for Citizen, Young Citizen and Community Event of the Year awards.

Residents can nominate a person or a ccommunity event / festival they believe worthy of recognition, with the above three categories.

Other Regional 2014 Australia Day Celebrations:

Brimpaen  - Brimpaen Hall

Country breakfast from 8.am and official ceremony at 9.am. Event will feature guest speaker and flag-raising ceremony.

Natimuk - In front of Council Office

From 10.30am entertainment from the  Natiumk Brass Band, event will feature guest speaker, flag-raising ceremony and morning tea to follow.

Dadswells Bridge - Dadswells Bridge Hall

Commencing at 11.am flag raising ceremony, guest speaker followed by a morning tea.

Citizen Award - Robyn Lardner

Robyn has been an outstanding contributor to her community over many years and is highly regarded for her significant involvement on numerous committee serving the Horsham Region.

Young Citizen Award - Rebecca Schmidt

Rebecca is an enthusiastic young person participating in a number of activities within the Horsahm College and wider community. Rebecca always puts the interests of others ahead of herself, she has an affectionate personality and a caring nature, as shown through her volunteering roles.

Community Event of the Year Award  - Carols by Candlelight

The 2012 Horsham Carols By Candlelight held at Horsham Soundshell was an outstanding family occasion which brought the communtiy together to celebrate in the Christmas spirit.

More then 500 people converged on Horsham Soundshell for an evening of wonderful entertainment. Local wimmer performers from all sectors of the community entertained the audience throughout the evening.
