Horsham has gained a national and even international reputation for its dynamic arts community. The region hosts three arts festivals, and a number of international arts companies are based in Natimuk.
Developed by the community, Wesley Performing Arts Centre boasts perfect acoustics for music and theatrical performances.
The Horsham Town Hall is being developed to host larger scale, professional events and Sawyer Park Sound Shell, near the Wimmera River is used for outdoor events.
Horsham Regional Art Gallery is considered by many to be one of the best public alleries in rural Australia, with fine collections of Australian art and photography. It hosts around 30 temporary exhibitions, so there's always something new to see.
View and purchase local artists work at the Makers Gallery and Studio, including woodwork, patchwork quilts, paintings, photography, jewellery, embroidery, and textiles.
In recent years Horsham has instigated many public arts projects including Tim Jones' scar tree sculpture near the Wimmera River, Anton Hassell's Post Office bell piece, Glen Roumanis' Meeting Place, located in Roberts Place, Gallery Alley and the Bradbury Lane mural.
The town also contains some important architecture. The Catholic Church of SS Michael and John's was designed by acclaimed architect, Greg Burgess, and the Town Hall / Art Gallery complex is a fine example of 1930s Art Deco.
The modernistic 1970s Uniting church has particularly fine stained-glass windows featuring sowing and reaping, and the more traditional Anglican church features a beautiful wooden ceiling, and sculpture by Leopoldine Mimovich & Wallace Anderson.
